In single crystals of an easy‐glide orientation of the heterogeneous alloys Cu‐15% Al‐2% Co (at %) with non‐coherent particles of CoAl the plastic deformation is shown to be realised by means of mechanical twinning and the dependence is investigated. At 77 K abnormally large reversible deformation (ε ≈︁ 2.5%) (superelasticity) associated with elastic twinning is found on unloading. The dependence of superelasticity effects on the particle dispersion, the test temperature, and crystal axis orientation is studied.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
