The results of the present study provide a rationale for the possibility of the application of a low-frequency magnetic field and especially UHF electromagnetic radiation for the further development of the promising therapeutic and preventive technologies with a view to their introduction into routine clinical practice dealing with radiation-induced pathology.
The motor zone of the rat brain cortex is subjected to pulsed infrared (0.89 ~t) laser radiation, which is found to stimulate DNA synthesis both in intact animals and after strenuous physical exercise (swimming). Preliminary laser irradiation exerts a stress-limiting effect on ceils of the brain cortex and thymus but does not prevent swimminginduced reduction of 3H-thymidine incorporation in nuclear DNA of muscles.
In rats, adaptation to strenuous exercise was accompanied by phasic changes in the activities of the kallikrein-kinin system, elastase-like proteinases, and proteinase inhibitors, and total antioxidant activity in the serum, myocardium, liver, and cerebral cortex. After 30-rain physical exercises, activity of the kallikrein-kinin system decreased in the serum and increased in tissue with parallel activation of elastase-like proteinases in the myocardium and cerebral cortex. After 3-h exercises the activity of the kallikrein-kinin system showed some indications of exhaustion, especially in the myocardium and cerebral cortex. Activities of elastase-like proteinases tended to normal due to activation of txl-proteinase inhibitor and normalization of total antioxidant activity.
The action effects of the low-intensity low-frequency magnetic field (LMF) are mainly studied in its therapeutic use and to a much lesser extent in the mode of primary prevention.
Aim. To identify adaptive metabolic and ultrastructural changes in the testes of rats under the preventive action of LMF under radiation conditions.
Material and methods. The experiments were carried out on 28 mature non-linear male rats weighing 180-200 g. the animals were divided into 3 groups: in the experimental group, the animals received a course of LMF procedures followed by radiation exposure; in the control group, the animals were subjected only to radiation exposure; in the intact group, the animals were not exposed to any effects. The animals were slaughtered the day after the radiation exposure. the research methods were used: biochemical (to determine the content of RNA, DNA, antioxidant activity of the testes), light – optical (to count the number of convoluted seminiferous tubule – CST, exfoliated cells, spermatogonia, to determine the index of spermatogenesis); transmission electron microscopy; morphometric analysis of mitochondria (number, average and total area).
Results. The preventive effect of LMF enhanced the adaptive capabilities of the body and increased the resistance of the testes to the effects of radiation. This was manifested in an increase in the power of the antioxidant system, activation oof the cellular and intracellular regeneration processes, and a decrease in the permeability of the structures of the CST’s own shell.
Conclusion. The obtained data substantiate the possibility of using LMF as a means of protecting the organs of the reproductive system in the complex prevention of the body under the influence of radiation.
INTRODUCTION. To correct disorders in the male reproductive system organs in the metabolic syndrome, it seems reasonable to use a combined effect of natural and artificial therapeutic physical factors – drinking mineral water and low-intensity electromagnetic interference of ultrahigh frequency – on an experimental model of this disease. These factors have antioxidant, cytoprotective and regenerative effects and can have a wide range of effects on various adaptation and protective regulatory mechanisms.
AIM. To reveal the development of metabolic and structural adaptation-protective reactions in rat testes under the combined effect of drinking sulphate mineral water and low-intensity electromagnetic radiation microwave in experimental simulation of metabolic syndrome.
MATERIAL AND METHODS. The experiments were performed on 26 nonlinear male rats weighing 180-200g. The metabolic syndrome model was reproduced for 60 days using a high-caloric diet. The rats were divided into 3 groups: 1st (experimental)-rats received drinking sulfate mineral water in combination with microwave electromagnetic radiation against the background of a high-calorie diet; 2nd (control) – rats received only a high-calorie diet; 3rd (intact) – rats without any influences. Research methods: biochemical, lightoptical, morphometric, electron microscopy. Significance of differences was assessed by Student's t-test.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It was found that the combinational effect of drinking sulfate mineral water and low-intensity electromagnetic radiation microwave contributed to the enhancement of a number of adaptive and protective reactions in the testes of rats against the background of a high-caloric diet. They were mainly manifested in the activation of antioxidant protection and protein synthesis, improvement of spermatogenic cells differentiation processes and increase in their number, enhancement of cellular and intracellular regeneration.
CONCLUSION. The data obtained can be used in the development of new approaches to the methods of adaptation-protective and compensatory-restorative processes enhancement in the organs of the male reproductive system in metabolic syndrome.
