The formula for evaluation of narcissus equivalent temperature difference as a function of the scan angle in thermal imaging systems is made more meaningful by grouping the parameters in two factors: one depending on wavelength and temperature and the other, a function of the scan angle, depending on the geometry of the instrument. Exact ray tracing equations are used to evaluate the ratio of radiant energy reaching the detector from warm and cold areas of the instrument.
An efficient algorithm for the computation of monochromatic and polychromatic diffraction in the region of the focus of a converging wavefront has been devised for the Perkin-Elmer RAY-GODE optical design computer program. The algorithm generates a digitized map of intensity over an area defined by the user. With this map energy distribution can be integrated in different ways. Also, the program plots an analog map which closely resembles photographs of so-called aerial images of artificial stars observed under a microscope.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
