Research was conducted at a private, non-profit child-serving agency that in its continuum of services provides residential treatment for at-risk youth and their families. The effectiveness of these residential services has been measured in three ways: Services are evaluated by primary referral sources; follow-up data is obtained at various intervals after program participation to measure recidivism; and a more sensitive ''Offense Seriousness Score'' has been computed and analyzed prior to, during and after treatment. A discussion of the results and ways the adolescent therapeutic group homes (TGH) can still play an important role in the treatment of at-risk youth is also included.
The effect of overtraining a set of nonsense sounds on a reversal and half-reversal shift was investigated. Overtraining facilitated reversal but not half-reversal shift performance. These results confirmed previous findings using visually presented stimuli.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
