Background: Hypertension is a factor that causes disease, such as heart attack, kidney failure and stroke. The habit of consuming cocoa powder has a positive influence in controlling blood pressure. Objective: This study was to determine the effect of consumption of cocoa powder on blood pressure in the elderly. Methods: The research design used was quasi-experimental and used a one-group pre-post test design approach on 15 respondents, the data collection technique used in this study was using observation sheets. The analysis of this study uses an independent T test. Results: The results of this study obtained data that from 15 respondents it was known that systolic and diastolic blood pressure before being given cocoa powder experienced moderate and severe blood pressure and after being given cocoa powder blood pressure became mild and moderate. Conclusion: This study describes the effect of cocoa powder consumption on blood pressure in the elderly (p=0.000).
