Genetic factors associated with COVID-19 disease outcomes are poorly understood. This study aimed to associate genetic variants in the SLC6A20, LZTFL1, CCR9, FYCO1, CXCR6, XCR1, and ABO genes with the risk of severe forms of COVID-19 in Amazonian Native Americans, and to compare the frequencies with continental populations. The study population was composed of 64 Amerindians from the Amazon region of northern Brazil. The difference in frequencies between the populations was analyzed using Fisher’s exact test, and the results were significant when p ≤ 0.05. We investigated 64 polymorphisms in 7 genes; we studied 47 genetic variants that were new or had impact predictions of high, moderate, or modifier. We identified 15 polymorphisms with moderate impact prediction in 4 genes (ABO, CXCR6, FYCO1, and SLC6A20). Among the variants analyzed, 18 showed significant differences in allele frequency in the NAM population when compared to others. We reported two new genetic variants with modifier impact in the Amazonian population that could be studied to validate the possible associations with COVID-19 outcomes. The genomic profile of Amazonian Native Americans may be associated with protection from severe forms of COVID-19. This work provides genomic data that may help forthcoming studies to improve COVID-19 outcomes.
O presente estudo consiste em uma revisão integrativa da literatura, a qual teve por objetivo avaliar os preditores genéticos de suscetibilidade a vasculopatia cerebral na doença falciforme. Foram selecionados 15 artigos em bases de dados, por meio de descritores em português e em inglês: anemia falciforme, genética médica, artérias cerebrais e doenças arteriais cerebrais, utilizando os operadores booleanos “AND” ou “OR”. A pesquisa ocorreu em dezembro de 2022. As evidências apontam que a vasculopatia cerebral é uma complicação potencialmente grave das principais síndromes falciformes em crianças com anemia falciforme, sendo a forma clínica mais severa e frequente. A associação de um perfil de risco genético hemolítico com história de acidente vascular cerebral enfatiza o papel hemolítico no processo fisiopatológico da vasculopatia cerebral. Mecanismos de como o aumento da hemólise pode levar a vasculopatia cerebral e acidente vascular cerebral incluem redução de biodisponibilidade de óxidos, levando ao aumento da resistência vascular e regulação positiva de moléculas de adesão vascular (por exemplo, VCAM1, E-selectina), anemia mais grave no cenário de comprometimento cerebrovascular capacidade de reserva, e maior ativação da coagulação. A relação entre genes e a vasculopatia na doença falciforme sugere novos alvos terapêuticos potenciais para intervenção. O espectro clínico variável da doença é consequência de múltiplos eventos e suscetibilidade genética que vai além da ocorrência de uma única substituição de aminoácido na cadeia beta globina da hemoglobina.
Este estudo objetivou revisar os avanços atuais sobre o aparecimento e agravamento de doenças autoimunes pós covid-19. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa que selecionou 19 publicações encontradas nas bases de dados Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE), Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e PubMed. Foram utilizados os descritores em português e em inglês: doença autoimune e coronavírus, por meio do operador booleano “AND”. Os resultados mostram as características do Sars-Cov-2, no qual o vírus pode ativar rapidamente células Th1 patogênicas para secretar citocinas pró-inflamatórias. Além disso, receptores imunes ligados à membrana podem contribuir para uma resposta inflamatória desequilibrada e um mecanismo potencial da tempestade de citocinas causada pela via da angiotensina 2.
This study aims to describe the aspects related to nursing care in cardiovascular complications of COVID-19. This is an integrative literature review, carried out in March 2021, through the search for articles in the scientific databases, published between January 2020 and February 2021. For the treatment of the data, the analysis technique was used of content 04 complete original articles were selected that answer the central question of the research and that were organized in three categories according to the evidences found. The analysis of the literature shows that the articles address nursing care through teleconsultation, nursing care in the cardiac complications of COVID-19 and nursing management in a cardiological unit in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is concluded that nursing has a wide field of action in the front line and great challenges are faced when dealing with a new disease. The losses of COVID-19 to the cardiovascular system are present in the short and long term and nurses play an important role in the prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and rehabilitation of heart diseases.Letícia Almeida de Assunção et al.
Objective: This study aims to gather, characterize, evaluate and integrate studies that investigated the management of nursing care in the main clinical emergencies. Method: This is a review of national and international literature, which includes the analysis of research results that offer support to nurses in relation to conduct in the main clinical emergencies. Results: Among the most cited clinical emergencies in the articles, the management of nursing care in hypertensive crisis, hyperglycemic crisis, upper and lower gastrointestinal bleeding, acute pulmonary edema, burn patients and sepsis stand out. Final considerations: The study had limitations regarding the number of scientific articles specifically related to urgency and nursing care. Furthermore, it is concluded that nurses play a fundamental role in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, evolution and stabilization of the clinical picture.
