Background: This study aimed to investigate lung cancer patients and attitudes of their caregivers toward advance directives (ADs) in China. Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted in the Department of Oncology outpatient clinic in West China Hospital, Sichuan University. A questionnaire was used to survey the attitudes of lung cancer patients and caregivers toward ADs. Results: A total of 148 lung cancer patients and 149 caregivers were enrolled into the study. Of these, 94.6% and 89.9% of patients and caregivers had not heard of AD and none of those in the study had ever signed an AD. A total of 79.7% patients and 75.2% caregivers were willing to sign ADs after they were provided with information. Patients who preferred the end of life period to sign ADs were 5.4 times more likely to have ADs than patients who chose to sign ADs when their disease was diagnosed (P < 0.05, ). Caregivers who were reluctant to undergo chemotherapy when diagnosed with cancer were 2.16 times more likely to sign ADs than those willing to receive chemotherapy (P < 0.05, 95%CI [1.20-3.90]). Conclusions: In China, lung cancer patients and their caregivers showed lack of knowledge about ADs, and the completion rate of ADs was extremely low. However, participants were positive about ADs and public education on ADs may help to increase the completion rate of ADs in China.

Our aim was to investigate cancer department nurses' attitudes and practices in response to pelvic radiation patients' sexual issues in Sichuan, China. A self-made questionnaire survey was conducted with 150 registered nurses of six hospitals in China. Nurses were asked about their experiences regarding consultation about sexual issues and attitudes toward the sex-related statements of pelvic radiation patients. We analyzed the correlation factors for the attitudes about dealing with patients' sexual issues by using the χ(2)-test. Of the survey sample, 128 nurses (85.33%) responded. Of the respondents, 46.88% had been consulted about sexual issues by patients or families. In addition, 87.5% of the nurses believed that 'reliable information on sexual in pelvic radiotherapy is lacking', and 77.34% reported having 'an interest in undertaking education of knowledge about pelvic radiation patients' sexual issues'; yet only 4.69% had completed professional sexual education about pelvic radiation patients. The hospital type and bed number as well as nurse age and seniority also affected the responses. This study shows that discussing sexuality is still repressed in the patient-nurse relationship, and most nurses' in Chinese cancer departments lack knowledge about pelvic radiation patients' sexual problems.

Abstract-Because of high breeding density, the laminated henhouse with six overlap tiers cages microclimate has more influence to layers health and production performance. At present, the environmental measuring parameters and the measuring points are too less to reflect the whole henhouse environment. To solve this problem, we proposed an intelligent monitoring system and designed a kind of sensor distribution topology for henhouse complex structure. It can realize the real-time online environmental monitoring of the whole henhouse. The monitoring experiment was carried out in a henhouse in Hubei province. And the evaluation of the henhouse environment was scientifically analyzed. In fact, we find that his system runs stably, accurately and effectively, and has important practical significance and good application prospect in large-scale livestock precision farming.
