Undetected or misdiagnosed crop diseases can pose significant economic threats, especially when dealing with corn, a worldwide staple crop and the most widely produced feed grain in North America. Two foliar corn diseases, tar spot and bacterial leaf streak, were confirmed for the first time in the U.S. within the last three years, and both spread rapidly to additional states. This article addresses detection, diagnosis, and suggested IPM practices.
