In order to mill irregular curves by CNC woodworking machine based polar coordinates, a new method was presented. This new method takes the technology of graphics interaction with DXF file, and can mill directly according to the workpiece contour curves data. CNC carpentry line trace mill data processing software was developed which can realize arbitrary contour curves discretization and G-Code generation. The processing experiments prove that this system can simplify the machine operation, increase milling efficiency, improve quality effectively and reduce the production cost.
In polar coordination for the purpuse of irregular curves milling, a method of C-function cutter radius compensation was presented. The new process method is based on the curve approximation, adopting the method of approximating irregular curve with tiny straight line. The machine tool motion control system just makes the machine axials move along these line segments and finally the processing path can be formed . In order to realize the transition between line segments, a practical method of C-function cutter radius compensation in polar coordinate was presented. This method can make curve smooth and realize CNC machining about the irregular outline curves.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
