Many applications of mobile Ad Hoc networks (MANETs) adopt hierarchical structure for the scalability and simplify of management. Clustering is the most popular method to impose a hierarchical structure in MANETs. As a newlyproposed weighing-based clustering algorithm, the Weighted Clustering Algorithm (WCA) has improved performance compared with other previous clustering algorithms. But the high mobility of nodes will lead to high frequency of reaffiliations which will increase the network overhead. To solve this problem, we propose an improved weight-based clustering algorithm (IWCA) which can enhance the stability of the network by taking the relative mobility of node and its neighbors into consideration. Simulation study indicates that the proposed algorithm (IWCA) has improved performance with respect to the original WCA.
The concept of byzantine attack comes from Byzantine Generals Problem. In this abstract concept, the loyal byzantine army general are suppose to coordinate in a battlefield to conclude a common plan in the presence of traitor generals which can disrupt such coordination. This Generals Problem resembles the attacks initiated by authenticated nodes/devices in Ad Hoc Network to disrupt the network. Although these attacks can be initiated individually but are more devastating if initiate in a combined way. This paper discusses and highlights the performance degradation of AODV routing protocol, mainly when the byzantine attack are initiated in a combination
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
