The authors aim at investigating factors driving and hindering financial inclusion in Vietnam. The dataset was achieved from the 2017 Global Financial Inclusion (Global Findex) Database of Vietnam along with two probit regressions were used to indentify factors driving access to formal financial system. The results showed that key obstacles to have a formal account are income shortage, education attainment, geographical location and individual perceptions. Converserly, age made a huge indicator of usage of formal financial services. Based on these findings, some recommendations were proposed to enhance financial inclusion for people in emerging countries such as Vietnam.
This paper aims to investigate the impact levels of factors on the financial literacy of the poor in a rural area, using as a case an emerging country such as Vietnam. Qualitative and quantitative methods have been employed with primary data from 512 questionnaire respondents and 12-expert in-depth interviews. The result has shown that internal factors, including financial knowledge, financial behavior and financial attitude, are the reflective models affecting financial literacy, in which knowledge about savings and financial investment has the most significant influence. The study also tested that, among demographic factors, age, income, and education level positively impact financial literacy, while gender has no significant effect. Based on the findings, recommendations are proposed to shape the saving habits of the poor in rural areas and form financial attitude and financial behavior.
The research aims to analyze determinants of the division of household labor in Vietnam. Research model and hypotheses are developed based on the Theory of Planned Behavior - TPB (Icek Ajzen, 1985) with primary data from questionnaires survey. With 295 respondents during the period from November 2019 to April 2020, the study utilizes SPSS 20.0 software to test research model and hypotheses. The results show that “The Intention of Household Labor Division” is significantly affected by “Attitude”, along with “Subjective Norms” (Gender Viewpoint) and “Perceived Behavioral Control”; the weakest determinants influencing “The Intention of Household Labor Division” comprise “Subjective Norms” (Friend), “Subjective Norms” (Family) and “Subjective Norms” (Social Environment). By contrast, “The Intention of Household Labor Division” influences “The Behavior of Household Labor Division” to the highest extent, followed by “Perceived Behavioral Control”. Based on these findings, some recommendations are proposed to enhance the efficiency of the division of household labor, including (1) active involvement of government; (2) adjusting awareness; and (3) the right attitude.
