Current modeling of the frictional forces generated in the tire-runway contact zone during braking rely on empirical models derived during flight test campaigns. Using the Brush Model, the frictional forces can be calculated based on the physical interaction between the tire and the runway. To build a more complete model, the disciplines of strength of materials and tribology have been used to create a model capable of predicting the frictional forces that are developed between a braking tire and the runway.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
