This is a two-phase study, the first was a literature review that aimed to identify a set of competencies for professional practice that would be relevant for the health care of People with disabilities (PwD). These competencies were then used to plan a thirty-hour multidisciplinary course for undergraduate health care students. The educational intervention led to improvements in the students’ learning experiences, including the development of empathy and knowledge related to the care of PwD, improved knowledge around accessibility, and an awareness of the need to humanize the care of PwD. Students reported enhanced learning experiences and an increase in knowledge related to the care of PwD, and also highlighted the need to humanize the care.
Objective: to carry out the cross-cultural adaptation of the instrument Self-Assessment of Occupational Functioning for Brazilian Sign Language. Method: prospective methodological research with translation and cross-cultural adaptation of Brazilian Portuguese into the Brazilian Sign Language, held from August 2016 to October 2017, based on the methodology for evidence-based sign language translation, with translation stages (profiles heterogeneity among translators), synthesis of translations, back-translation, review by judges (validation and semantic analysis), pilot test and final version of the instrument in video Brazilian Sign Language. Results: needs for modifying the pronoun were raised and signs were added that could express self-reflection in questions using first-person pronouns. The following were also investigated: the need to replace some signals, the use of the datiological alphabet, the modification of the domain name to the context and the reality of the population, as well as adjustments and indications of use of the online version in Brazilian Sign Language, through equipment with greater speed of internet. Conclusion: the pilot test showed that the apparent validation and content, during the process of cross-cultural adaptation to the Brazilian Sign Language of the Self-Assessment of Occupational Functioning instrument, was satisfactory.
Resumen ResumoObjetivo: Avaliar o conhecimento dos profissionais da equipe de enfermagem de Unidades de Terapia Intensiva sobre hemotransfusão e fatores associados.
Objective: to analyze and correlate occupational roles, symptoms and self-care capacity in oncologic patients seen at the chemotherapy service of a university hospital. Method: cross-sectional study, in which the instruments were applied sociodemographic and clinical questionnaire, M.D Anderson’s Symptom Inventory - core, Appraisal of Self Care Agency Scale-Revised and Occupational Paper Identification List to oncologic patients seen in the chemotherapy service of a university hospital. Data analysis included absolute and relative frequency tables and multiple linear regression, adopting a significance level of α=0.05. Results: the sample showed capacity for self-care operationalized with an average of ̄X=57.8. In the correlation between the degree of importance of the occupational papers and the scores of the evaluation instrument for self-care was found statistical significance in the papers of volunteer (r=0.26; p=0.02) and friend (r=0.33; p= <0.001). The linear regression showed that the greater the interference of symptoms in life activities (β=0.20; p=0.05) and greater the importance of the role of friend (p=0.001; p=0.43), the higher the rates of self-care. Conclusion: the operationalization of self-care can be directly related to the degree of importance attributed to the performance of social roles.
Modelo: Revisão sistemática. Objetivo do estudo: Este estudo buscou fazer um levantamento bibliográfico dos instrumentos de pesquisas na área da saúde adaptados para o uso em língua de sinais. Metodologia: A partir das bases de dados BIREME, CINAHL, PubMED e ISI Web of Science foram utilizados os descritores deafness, sign language, scales e questionnaires localizando artigos publicados no período de 2008 a maio de 2013 nas línguas inglesa e portuguesa. Resultados: Foram localizados 168 artigos, dos quais somente 15 responderam aos critérios de inclusão. Nessas publicações, 29 instrumentos foram utilizados e 12 deles tiveram suas traduções em língua de sinais validadas. Observou-se que as publicações com instrumentos de pesquisas na área da saúde traduzidos, adaptados e validados para uso em populações surdas são ainda em quantidade reduzida. Conclusão: Esses achados evidenciam escassa literatura científica de apoio à pesquisa com surdos e a necessidade de tradu- ção, adaptação e validação de mais instrumentos para que esse grupo populacional seja corretamente estudado e assistido
