The possible effects on the protective performance of ZRP modified by combination of Zn dust with aluminium or carbon type fillers were investigated using electrochemical noise analysis (ENA). The role of different oxygen diffusion characteristics (identified on tested coating systems with ENA) on delamination tendency was tested during 168 hrs immersion tests in 0.05 M NaCl. It was shown the protective performance of tested type of coating systems can be changing with immersion time rather differently in relation to different ability of polymer matrix with the Zn/Al or Zn/C particles combination for oxygen transport to the coating/steel interface.
Corrosion rate of hot dip zinc coating exposed at atmospheric environment can be predicted according to EN ISO 9223 and EN ISO 9224. Prediction models based on dose response (D/R) functions express the effects of environmental parameters on the corrosion of material. The investigation of corrosion protection of construction exposed longer than 30 years were performed. In this paper the selected results of evaluation of galvanised infrastructures from corrosion failure and durability point of view are presented. The field data are compared to prediction models. The residual thickness of zinc coating was measured on selected profiles of the truss structures. The maintained organic coatings were applied on these constructions and there are presented results after 8 years.
All industries are interesting in the durability/service life of products, structures, equipment, plants, etc. One factor affecting this is corrosion resistance. There are many methods for received such data. Methods supporting standardized data are long-term atmospheric corrosion tests, mapping of corrosivity, field tests on real structures including the evaluation of long-term exposed materials and coatings. The choice of suitable accelerated test is very important for receiving the reasonable information.
The paper follows the paper describing the condition of wrought iron structure of main railway station [1]. In this paper the investigation of condition of paint system corrosion surface treatment is given and the restoration procedure is described. The withdrawal samples of paint systems were analysed by stratigraphy, FTIR and XRF analysis. Due to identification of Pb pigment presence in primer the water jet technology was chosen which minimalised the danger waste formation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
