6 ResumoEste trabalho tem por objetivo avaliar o efeito da incorporação do material particulado da etapa de sinterização de uma usina siderúrgica integrada, nas propriedades físicas e mecânicas de cerâmica vermelha. Foram preparados formulações com incorporações de resíduo em até 20% em peso em argila caulinítica e corpos de prova retangulares por prensagem uniaxial a 20 MPa para queima nas temperaturas de 750°C, 900°C e 1.050°C. As propriedades físicas e mecânicas avaliadas são: retração linear, absorção de água e tensão de ruptura à flexão. Os resultados indicam que o resíduo melhora as propriedades da cerâmica, reduzindo a absorção de água e aumentando a resistência mecânica em todas as temperaturas investigadas. RECYCLING OF PARTICULATE MATERIAL FROM SINTERING PLANT OF STEEL-MAKING INDUSTRY INTO RED CERAMIC AbstractThis work has as its objective to evaluate the effect of incorporation of the particulate material of the sintering stage from an integrated steelmaking plant on the physical and mechanical properties of a red ceramic. Formulations with incorporation of the waste up to 20 wt% into a kaolinitic clay and rectangular specimens were prepared by uniaxial mold-press at 20 MPa and then fired at 750°C, 900°C and 1050 o C were prepared. The evaluated physical and mechanical properties are: linear shrinkage, water absorption and flexural rupture strength. The results show that the waste enhanced the properties of the ceramic, decreasing the water absorption and increasing the mechanical strength at all investigated temperatures.
