Humanitarian workers operate in complex environments with various challenges and demanding working conditions. These challenges put aid workers in a range of risks and under the pressure. However, human resources are crucial for success of humanitarian operations in general. At the same time, each humanitarian operation is reliant on logistics and logistics activities are always connected with logistic staff. Understanding what motivates logisticians to join the humanitarian sector is essential information for humanitarian organizations and for recruiters within. Also, knowing which factors influence motivation and job satisfaction of humanitarian logisticians could help the organizations to struggle with the extremely turnover they have to face. Up to this moment, needed skills and the performance of humanitarian logisticians were examined. Also, the motivators of humanitarian workers are covered in previous research. Therefore, the additional aim of this research is to extend the knowledge about the human resources in humanitarian sector as well.
The paper deals with the topic of volunteering in the Czech Republic. The motivation of volunteers consists of several motivators that are individually different. The volunteer is not financially rewarded for their work, so it is important to know their volunteering initiative. Is volunteering linked to preparation for self-development? The result of the questionnaire survey is the answer, whether there is a relationship between volunteers and people who do not want to be volunteers focused on self-development and organization of their self-development. The result of the survey brings benefits for managers. The result can help them to better understand the needs of volunteers that they can use to manage them successfully. The survey was considered at a certain time without repetition. The limitation is that respondents respond their views, but they do not talk about actual practices and that could be differ.
EU policies support a place-based approach with the increasing role of local partners in political decision-making. The current crisis of formal political leadership raises the question of whether or not formal leadership is becoming dispersed and informal place leadership can succeed in filling the vacuum.Based on data from the implementation of 58 EU-funded Integrated Urban Development Plans in Czechia, we found that informal leadership is challenging formal local political leadership.Nevertheless, its success has been limited in obtaining political legitimacy due to missing dialogue between the local movements and nonprofit leaders when searching for solutions to local problems.
Research background: The article deals with the volunteering. The relationship between school and volunteer orientation is compared among respondents preparing for the future labour market, i.e. high school and university students of various specializations who study in the Czech Republic. Students can be motivated by gaining experience in team cooperation in solving a common goal like one type of the motivator. Are volunteers and potential volunteers willing to devote their time to projects in the same way, whether they have experience with volunteering or not?
Purpose of the article: The purpose is to find the connection between the age of the respondents, their experiences with volunteering and the time they are willing to devote to the volunteering.
Methods: The method is quantitative study of answers of students from high school and university students. The quantitative study uses Chi square test. The result of quantitative elaboration of the questionnaire survey is the answer to whether there is a connection between the age of the respondents, their experience with volunteering and the time which they are willing to devote to the volunteering.
Findings & Value added: The result finds the differences and connections between age of volunteers, their experiences with volunteering and with willingness to be the volunteer for longer or shorter time. The result of the survey brings benefits to managers to recruit volunteers and it cannot be denied that the willingness of volunteers to devote their time to volunteering will change as they gain the experience.
