ResumenEn este estudio se presenta una caracterización de la ceniza de cascarilla de arroz a un tamaño de partícula adecuado para su desempeño como agregado fino en adhesivos tipo mortero para colocación de baldosas cerámicas, debido al alto porcentaje de sílice en su composición química. Se analizan las propiedades físicas y químicas de los agregados y el comportamiento mecánico de fluidez y resistencia a la tracción de los morteros obtenidos con reemplazo parcial de arena en porcentajes desde 5% hasta 25%, proponiendo así el empleo de los residuos de ceniza de cascarilla de arroz y presentando una alternativa de disminución a la explotación de arena, la cual genera impactos graves al medio ambiente. Los resultados muestran que un porcentaje de reemplazo de la arena por ceniza de cascarilla de arroz de 20% produce fuerzas de tracción comparables con las obtenidas para adhesivos comerciales. AbstractThis research presents a characterization of rice husk ash to an appropriate particle size for their performance as fine aggregate in adhesive mortars for laying of ceramic tiles, due to the high percentage of silica in its chemical composition. The physical and chemical properties of aggregates are analyzed and the mechanical behavior of fluency and tensile strength of the mortars obtained with partial replacement of sand in percentages from 5% to 25%, proposing the use of waste rice husk ash and presenting an alternative to decreasing sand exploitation, which causes serious environmental impacts. The results show that a percentage of replacement of the sand by rice husk ash in a 20% produces tensile forces comparable with those obtained for commercial adhesives.
