There is growing interest in the literature on heterocyclic compounds and in search for novel compounds for aid in the treatment of diseases, imidazolidine-2,4-dione derivatives, also known as hydantoins, constitute a class of very important compounds. In addition to possessing a versatile aza-heterocycle framework for organic synthesis, by the possibility of functionalization in N1, N3 and C5, as well as the positions 2 and 4 that can vary between oxygen and sulfur providing oxo or thio derivatives respectively, are also responsible By various activities of pharmaceutical interest, such as anticonvulsant, antitumor, anticancer, among others. In this way, the purpose of this work was to study the production of hydantoin derivatives, based on the exploration of simple synthetic strategies as condensation reactions, using different amino acids treated with urea; N-acylation reactions and N-alkylations, using acetic anhydride and alkyl chloride respectively. Due to the variety of possible amino acids to be used and a variety of acylated or alkylated substrates to be explored, this research proposal is quite promising, where, based on a set of synthetic steps already established in the literature, unpublished hydantoin derivatives have been obtained, as (S)-1-Acetyl-5-benzylimidazolidine-2-2H-pyrrolo[1,2-e]imidazole-1,3-dione. The structures of all the synthesized compounds were characterized by physical aspects (melting point of the solid compounds) and spectroscopic ( 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR and Infrared).
