Abstract:The efficient tunable Ho:YAG laser pumped by Tm:fiber laser of 20 W output power at 1908 nm was developed. For tuning the Lyot filter consisting of a quartz plate of 2.1 mm thickness was applied. The output power of 1.13 W for 3 W of absorbed pump power was reached at the wavelength 2132.8 nm.The tunability between 2075 -2135 nm wavelength range was demonstrated.Spectrum, a.u.
The efficient Q-switched Ho:YAG hybrid laser resonantly pumped by a Tm:fiber (15 W CW @ 1908 nm) was developed. The performance of the laser was investigated for the operation both in free running and a Q-switching regime. The output power of 3.5 W continuous-wave (CW) for 10.2 W of incident pump power was reached at a wavelength of 2090.1 nm. In the Q-switching regime an acousto-optic modulator was applied. In the CW pumping regime the repetition rate was changed from 20 to 5000 Hz. For the best results, for a 20 Hz repetition rate, pulses of 2.5 mJ energy and 125 kW peak power were achieved. In this regime the shortest pulse of 19.07 ns FWHM was recorded. For the best case of Q-switching in a quasi-CW pumping regime (repetition rate of 20 Hz and a pulse width of 8 ms) the pulses of 127 kW peak power (2.8 mJ, 22 ns) were obtained.
Abstract:The room-temperature, water-cooled, diode pumped Tm:YLF laser head was elaborated and examined. For pumping the fiber coupled (0.2 mm core diameter) 25-W laser diode bar emitting at 792-nm wavelength was deployed. Near 5 W of CW output power and 25% slope efficiency was demonstrated in a short, 70-mm long resonator. Tuning in 1845-1935 nm wavelength range by means of 2-plate Lyot filter was demonstrated only in free-running regime. The fused silica acousto-optic modulator with above 80% diffraction efficiency for 25-W power of RF was deployed as the Q-switch for such a laser. In the best case of Q-switching regime, up to 10-mJ output energy with 47-ns pulse duration, 220 kW peak power was demonstrated for 133 Hz. For higher repetition rate of 2 kHz, 12 kW peak power with 2.5 W of average power was achieved.Photo of laser head of tunable, actively Q-switched diode pumped Tm:YLF laser
