The detection of congenital heart abnormalities in Russia still remains at a relatively low level, which entails high rates of mortality and disability among children of all age groups. Early detection of the defect, correct diagnosis and the surgical aid are the clue to low postoperative mortality and good long-term treatment results. Development of the cardiac surgery service requires high diagnostic level. Echocardiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are the main non-invasive techniques in the morphofunctional assessment of the heart in children with CHD.
