Experimental data are reported for the adsorption of four carboxylic acids onto a macroreticular resin (Amberlite XAD-2) from dilute aqueous solutions. Acetic, propionic, n-butyric, and n-hexanoic acids were studied at 278, 298, and 323 K. The data, which cover a concentration range from 10~2 to KT4 M, were fitted with a Chebyshev rational approximation polynomial. The data for the acids that were completely miscible in water were successfully correlated by using a modified form of the adsorption potential theory.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
