An Unusual Rearrangement of N,N-Dibenzyl-2-aminopropanal to N,N-Dibenzyl-1-aminopropanone.-The aldehyde (I), on exposure to either silica gel or pyridinium acetate, rearranges to the ketone (II). The reaction does not occur with other aminoaldehydes (III). A possible mechanism is a facile 1,2-methyl shift, followed by a 1,2-H shift. - (ADIA, M.; HENAFF, N.; WHITING, A.; Tetrahedron Lett. 38 (1997) 17, 3101-3102; Dep. Chem., Univ. Manchester Inst. Sci.
