The increasing relevance of air transport as a contributor to climate change requires the development of emissions reduction technologies in a socio-economic and cultural context, where demand and air traffic have traditionally held sustained growth rates. However, the irruption of COVID-19 in 2020 has had an enormous negative impact on air travel demand and traffic volumes. Coincidentally, during 2020, new technology proposals for emissions reduction based on use of hydrogen and synthetic fuels have emerged from the aviation stake holders. By following a novel approach connecting the analysis of expectations of technology developments and their deployment into the fleet to market constraints, this study discusses how, even considering the new technology proposals and even if the COVID-19 has led to a completely different scenario in tourism and aviation, the air transport energy paradigm will remain unchanged in the upcoming decades as a consequence of market constraints, aircraft complexity, compliance with safety requirements, and extended life cycles. In this frame, aviation needs to keep on pursuing the abatement of its emissions while managing social expectations in a realistic manner and leaning on compensation schemes to achieve emissions contention while new technologies become serviceable in the longer term.
The models used for analyzing and measuring quality in tourist destinations are changing with the incorporation of new techniques derived from data science and artificial intelligence. Recent studies show how social media and e-word of mouth (e-WoM) are playing key roles in the perception and image diffusion of tourist destinations. Thus, it is necessary to look for new methods for analyzing the tourist management and attractiveness of tourist spots. This includes conducting a sentiment analysis of tourists that modifies former research methods based on previously proposed model, supported by a survey, which obtained predefined and incomplete results. This study analyzed the quality of tourism in Spain, a major tourist destination that is considered to be the country with the greatest tourist competitiveness according to the World Economic Forum, and in China, the country with the greatest level of development and potential. A sentiment analysis was carried out to measure the quality of tourist destinations in Spain, and this involved three challenges: (1) the analysis of the sentiments of Chinese tourists obtained from e-WoM; (2) the use of new models to measure the quality of a destination based on information from Chinese social networks, and (3) the use of the latest artificial intelligence analytical technologies. Our findings demonstrate how sentiment analysis can be a determining factor in measuring WoM and identifying areas of development in tourist destinations in order to build a more sustainable destination. The results includes the following aspects: (1) the use of real images with more empirical evidence, (2) the use of impressive and disappointing sentiments, (3) a “no comment status”, (4) elimination of stereotypes, and (5) the identification of new opportunities and segments.
The article substantiates the thesis that in personnel management it is necessary to distinguish between the object state and the object state indicators. The study of employee behavior from the standpoint of a system-transdisciplinary approach allowed us to conclude that any employee strives for stability and self-preservation. The condition for maintaining the stability and development of the employee is to achieve the indicators that the manager gives him. However, this doesn’t always change the object state. The main problem of personnel management is the development of a set of indicators, in which, working on indicators, employees would change the state of the organization in the right direction. The interpretation of economic relations as a system allows us to designate their basic element as a household. Then the objective function of economic relations is to meet the needs of all households. It is shown that the existing system of monetary indicators at the state level cannot provide an increase in the well-being of all households. The necessity of developing evaluation indicators of the activities of decision-makers and managers based on the designated system goal of the development of the national economy is justified. The problems of developing indicators and ways to solve them are also outlined.
