Communication plays an important role nowadays. The transmission and interchange of ideas, facts, and feelings of action are known as communication. It is done through words, actions, signs, objects or combination of all these. Communication skills are needed in each and every field of life. Everyone uses a language to communicate and to express oneself to get ideas and to connect with persons for a purpose. There are four basic skills of learning English language such as speaking, listening, reading and writing. The difficulties in speaking and writing can be found and then improved by some classroom activities by the way of giving task to the students for listening. Teachers give assignments to the learners to develop their writing skills. Cognition refers to the mental activities like thinking, remembering, memory, learning, comprehension, perception, motivation and using a language. The understanding and learning of information and concept is known as the cognitive approach. It is an approach that maintains how a person feels and behaves. Cognitive learning is about developing true understanding and is a way of learning that helps the learners to use their brains more effectively. The configuration of thought processes and psychological activities like problem solving and decision making from early childhood to adulthood is called as the cognitive development. This article deals with the ways and means of enhancing the speaking skills by intensive practise, writing through different activities and improving the receptive skills of the learners through cognitive approach.
English has become the medium of all relevant social interactions, discussions in all circumstances globally because of its numerous functions and preferences over several other languages. Language is the primary source of communication. It helps to exchange ideas and thoughts. The language skills, though not in proper way, are acquired at school level through the constituents of English Literature such as poetry, grammar and prose. This paper focuses how teaching poetry enhances the language skills of the students. Reading literature is an interesting area and it is the mirror of society. Poetry is one of the interesting areas in Literature which always awakens the senses and promotes literary things. It serves not only a model of literature but also a model for teaching skills of language such as reading and writing. Poetry is an effective way of language teaching. It helps the people to understand culture and to know the language. It also gives pleasure to the readers and gives them new models in their life to follow. Learning literature provides a platform to improve the communication skills of students. When the students read poetry, it improves their vocabulary, sentence formation, syntax, fluency and the creative skills. The genre poetry not only improves the communication skills but also improves the four skills such as LSRW ie, Listening, Speaking, Reading and writing.

It provides not only pleasure to readers but also builds experience and creates thinking ability. Moreover, literature has several literary forms such as prose, poetry, drama, novel, short stories, etc. Though there are several forms in literature, the most interesting genre is poetry. Poetry can be the works of great beauty due to its meter and rhyme scheme like the ebb and flow of an ocean. This really helps the student to show more involvement towards poetry. On the other hand, the students can try to know more vocabulary from the lines of the poems. Through different terms of poetry used in the classroom, the students get more benefits of knowing new terms and words.
Psychological aspects play an important role in language learning. Motivation is one of the terms used to achieve the language. The theories of second language focus mainly on motivation, nature of motivation, implications of second language acquisition and linguistic process. The theories are practices and used as a teaching method. The instructor can have a clear vision on theories to implement them in the classroom. The learning environment and reinforcement are the important factors in learning psychology. Due to psychological problems and lack of training and guidance, the learners lose hope of learning. Cognitive psychology deals with mental process which involves in language learning. This paper aims at analysing the psychological factors affecting language acquisition and analyses the psychological theories, techniques, methods and approaches to develop the language acquisition.
