Transition Metal Catalyzed Cross-Coupling Between Benzylic Halides and Aryl Nucleophiles. Synthesis of Some Toxicologically Interesting Tetrachlorobenzyltoluenes.-Cu-, Pd-, or Ni-catalyzed coupling of benzylic halides and arylmetal compounds is found to be a useful method to prepare diphenylmethane derivatives including tetrachlorobenzyltoluenes. The tetrachlorobenzyltoluene (IX) shows dioxine-type toxicity.-(DE LANG, R.-J.; VAN HOOIJDONK, M. J. C. M.; BRANDSMA, L.; KRAMER, H.; SEINEN, W.; Tetrahedron 54 (1998) 12, 2953-2966; Dep. Prep. Org.
