Laparoscopic splenectomy is a safe feasible operation in patients with spleen injury. The operation is indicated in patients with spleen laceration >3 cm of parenchymal depth with moderate continuing bleeding or expanding hematoma and contraindicated in patients with hemodynamic instability and high bleeding rate (>500 mL/h on serial ultrasound examinations).
Aim. To present treatment of patients with ileocecal intussusception. Material and methods. There were 3 patients with ileocecal intussusception for the period from June 2016 to August 2017. Conclusion. Abdominal sonography is main diagnostic method for intestinal intussusception. X-ray examination including contrast-enhanced irrigography gives more complete information about suspected intussusception. It is necessary to differentiate intestinal intussusception from other diseases accompanied by abdominal pain, vomiting, bloody discharge from rectum, abdominal neoplasm. Minimally invasive laparoscopic approach is advisable for diagnosis and treatment of intestinal intussusception.
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases. In 40–60% of cases, patients with colorectal cancer enter general surgical hospitals with complications. Obstructive colonic obstruction is the most common complication of colorectal cancer. The radical operation against the background of colonic obstruction is associated with a high postoperative lethality, ranging from 5% to 34%. To improve the results of surgical treatment of patients with colorectal cancer complicated by obturation colonic obstruction, various minimally invasive methods of temporary decompression have been proposed, followed by radical surgery, which signifcantly reduce the risk of complications and mortality.
Despite small sample size and no statistically reliable results the advantages of minimally invasive access are obvious. However, further trials are required to ensure the reliability of the results.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
