Using the generalised invariant formalism we derive a special subclass of conformally flat spacetimes whose Ricci tensor has a pure radiation and a Ricci scalar component. The method used is a development of the methods used earlier for pure radiation spacetimes of Petrov types O and N, respectively. In this paper we demonstrate how to handle, in the generalised invariant formalism, spacetimes with isotropy freedom and rich Killing vector structure. Once the spacetimes have been constructed, it is straightforward to deduce their Karlhede classification: the Karlhede algorithm terminates at the fourth derivative order, and the spacetimes all have one degree of null isotropy and three, four or five Killing vectors.
An invariant characterization of double warped space-times is given in terms of Newman-Penrose formalism and a classification scheme is proposed. A detailed study of the conformal algebra of these space-times is also carried out and some remarks are made on certain classes of exact solutions.
We construct a mathematical model of kinetic type in order to describe the immune system interactions in the context of autoimmune disease. The interacting populations are self-antigen presenting cells, self reactive T cells and the set of immunosuppressive cells consisting of regulatory T cells and Natural Killer cells. The main aim of our work is to develop a qualitative analysis of the model equations and investigate the existence of biologically realistic solutions. Having this goal in mind we describe the interactions between cells during an autoimmune reaction based on biological considerations that are given in the literature and we show that the corresponding system of integro-differential equations has finite positive solutions. The asymptotic behaviour of the solution of the system is also studied. We complement our mathematical analysis with numerical simulations that study the sensitivity of the model to parameters related to proliferation of immunosuppressive cells, destruction of self-antigen presenting cells and self reactive T cells and tolerance of SRTCs to self-antigens.
Abstract. We develop further the integration procedure in the generalised invariant formalism, and demonstrate its efficiency by obtaining a class of Petrov type N pure radiation metrics without any explicit integration, and with comparatively little detailed calculations. The method is similar to the one exploited by Edgar and Vickers when deriving the general conformally flat pure radiation metric. A major addition to the technique is the introduction of non-intrinsic elements in generalised invariant formalism, which can be exploited to keep calculations manageable.
A space-time calculus based on a single null direction is developed. The fundamental objects are totally symmetric spinors formed from the Ricci rotation coe cients together with four new di erential operators which only depend upon the choice of o A up to a complex scaling. The formalism combines features of the GHP formalism with those of one which is invariant under null rotations. Einstein's equations and the full Bianchi identities are given in this new formalism.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
