Abstract After a brief review of literature on compliance during adolescence and the traumatic impact of cancer in adolescents, this case-report explores the perception of her cancer in a teenager presenting with a history of child abuse. It also questions whether it would not be better to offer more systematically the opportunity of a psychiatric consultation in this category of follow-up, when the person which suffers from cancer is concurrently engaged in a process of psychological individuation and emotional maturation.
