The Indian banking witnessed a paradigm shift in their operations after the financial sector reforms in 1991. These reforms led to the emergence of new banks, new instruments, new methods of doing business, and finally heightened competition in the banking industry. In this context, it is imperative on the part of the Indian banking industry to strengthen financial base, increase overall efficiency, and improve profitability by designing appropriate funds management policies and practices. This paper examines the profitability of funds management of the select Indian banks with a cost-benefit perspective.
The paper presents bibliometric analysis of financial literacy for the year (2011-2020). A sum of 2227 was found using the Scopus database. The findings indicate gradual increase in research over the years articles. The Journal of Financial Counselling and Planning has produced more articles followed by the Journal of Consumer Affairs and Sustainability (Switzerland). The research on financial literacy appears in multidisciplinary journals, including consumer studies, social and economic education, extension, and sustainability. Lusardi A of George Washington University has contributed the highest articles. The USA has emerged as the leading contributing country in financial literacy research. The keywords that appeared the most frequently were financial literacy, financial education, financial inclusion, and financial capability. This work would provide an overview of financial literacy research.
The financial services industry in India is expanding and heading for global competition. The market players need to frame a well thought customer oriented product planning and pricing strategy with a commitment to add value to customers in the volatile and competitive environment. This study elicits the responses of major players in the industry and offers inputs for acquiring competitive capabilities in planning and pricing financial services.
