Summary -Genetic parameters related to growth, carcass composition and egg production were estimated on three (two female and one male) commercial strains of turkey using the method of restricted maximum likelihood (REML). In order to account for the sexual dimorphism in turkeys, body weight (BW, measured at 12 and 16 weeks of age) was considered as a sex-limited trait. As many as seven traits were analyzed simultaneously in one strain. Egg numbers were normalized using a Box-Cox transformation. Three different genetic models were used.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
