This study was aimed at the relationship model between LMX and work performance. Hypotheses mode was set up, and Chinese edition of LMX scale, team cohesion scale and team performance evaluation scale were used in this paper. 342 survey questionnaires were sent and 231 valid accounting for 67% of the total were received, the samples came from many industries, such as finance, energy, scientific research, IT and telecommunications, representing the state-owned, joint ventures, and private enterprises. Then, multiply stepwise regression, intermediary effect and regulatory effect analysis are used. Through those studies, we found that LMX had significantly positive effects on work performance and the team type and team cohesion affected the relationship between LMX and work performance as regulation variable and intermediary variable respectively. The follows also be found that in order to achieve performance targets, managers should strengthen exchange and communication with staff, care for members' feeling and special needs, show their care and support and build harmony subordinate relationship to promote team cohesion and work performance with good LMX.
Safety culture and the leader interaction with member are the keys to accident prevention. An equation of structure model (ESM) involved Leader-member exchange (LMX) and each element of safety culture is constructed based on literature review. And it is verified by this empirical study in China. 625 questionnaires are distributed and 333 valid samples are obtained with a response rate of 53% at coal mines. Research results from statistic analyses display safety culture is positively impacted by LMX. The conclusion gives advice to the practice of safety culture improvement by LMX promoting at coal mines in China.
Based on the literature review of Leader-Member Exchange theory (LMX) and Team Performance (TP), this paper proposes a model between LMX and TP, taking into consideration Team Cohesion (TC) operating as the mediator. To test this model, an empirical study was conducted in different industries, including IT, manufacturing and others in China. Data processing results indicate that LMX has positive influence on TP. Composite test procedures were performed to distinguish the mediator from moderator, showing that TC partially mediates the influence of LMX on TP. The results of this study suggest that building high LMX is an effective and credible method in improving TP.
