Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is known as cramping pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation experienced by some women. Abdominal stretching exercises and acupressure can reduce dysmenorrhea. This research aims to determine the difference in the intensity of primary menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) between abdominal stretching therapy and acupressure for adolescent girls in a Senior High School in Denpasar. The method applied in this research is a Quasi-Experimental two-groups pretest-posttest design. The research sample was grouped into two, namely 70 high school students in the abdominal stretching therapy and 70 students in acupressure therapy. The data were collected using the Numerical Rating Scales or NRS. The data were then analysed using the Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test. The result of the research showed that there was a significant difference in dysmenorrhea before and after abdominal stretching therapy (p=0.000). Also, there was a significant difference in dysmenorrhea before and after acupressure therapy (p=0.000). There was no difference in dysmenorrhea before applying abdominal stretching therapy and acupressure with a p-value=0.335. Also, there was no difference in dysmenorrhea after both therapies were undergone in two groups (p=0,111). The difference test on the difference between the pre-test and post-test obtained p-value = 0.012. Hence, there was a significant difference in decreasing dysmenorrhea between abdominal stretching therapy and acupressure (p=0.012). Conclusion: there is a significant difference in reducing dysmenorrhea between abdominal stretching therapy and acupressure. Suggestion: further research is necessary to conduct by using time series design.
Low back pain is musculoscletal problem that causes discomfort during pregnancy. Prenatal yoga is non-pharmacology method that can reduce low back pain. This research aims to find the low back pain difference of third trimester pregnant mothers before and after having prenatal yoga in Bunda Setia clinic. This is pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test research design. The samples are 36 third trimester pregnant mothers with gestational age of 36-38 weeks who join prenatal yoga in Bunda Setia clinic, chosen by consecutive sampling. The data are taken by observing the level of lower back pain before and after having prenatal yoga. The respondents have prenatal yoga once a week for 2 weeks, 60 minutes duration. The bivariate analysis uses Wilcoxon test α < 0,05. The median of low back pain before prenatal yoga is 5, after prenatal yoga reduce to 2 with ρ value = 0,000 < α (0,05) and Z value (-5.233). The conclusion shows there is low back pain level difference of third trimester pregnant mothers before and after having prenatal yoga in Bunda Setia clinic. This intervention is suggested to be applied by medical staff in order to resolve low back pain of pregnant mothers.
Back Massage technique combined with holistic aromatherapy treatment can be an effective therapy for postnatal mothers to increasing breast milk production. This study aims to analyze the effect of Miyik-miyikan aromatherapy on back massage. The increase of breast milk production in postpartum mothers can be seen from the baby’s weight gain. This study was conducted at an inpatient Primary Health Center in Denpasar, in June-October to 30 mothers. This study was designed in a quasi-experimental pre-posttest control group with a time series approach. The observation of the baby’s weight gain and breastfeeding satisfaction starts from day 1, day 7, and day 14 after delivery. This study was analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis Test and the Mann Whitney test. The result of the study showed that the Kruskal Wallis test is p <0,05, meaning that there was a difference in breast milk production in the two groups of intervention. Additionally, the Mann Whitney test showed the difference of baby weight on the 7th day to those in the Miyik-miyikan and Cananga group, and on the 14th day in the Cananga, Miyik-miyikan, and Champak group. Thus, the use of Miyik-miyikan aromatherapy on a back massage can be done earlier after delivery
