An arene interaction can mask a low‐valent and low‐coordinate VII complex, [(nacnac)V(Ntol2)] (see structure), which allows for facile coordination of terminal ligands on the vanadium center. Small‐molecule activation by this S=3/2 complex provides facile access to a wide range of ligand frameworks such as terminal VIV imido, VIV cyclopropene, VV nitride, and the first VV cyclo‐P3 complex (see scheme).

Ein Arenring maskiert den niedervalenten und niederkoordinierten VII‐Komplex [(nacnac)V(Ntol2)] und ermöglicht so die einfache Koordination terminaler Liganden an das Vanadiumzentrum. Die Aktivierung kleiner Moleküle durch diesen S=3/2‐Komplex bietet einen einfachen Zugang zu einer breiten Auswahl von Ligandengerüsten, wie terminalen VIV‐Imido‐, VIV‐Cyclopropen‐ und VV‐Nitrid‐Komplexen sowie dem ersten VV‐cyclo‐P3‐Komplex (siehe Schema).
