While titles in scientific journals in general have attracted considerable interest, titles in medical research seem not to have been examined quite extensively. In these few studies, attention has been paid primarily to the form and length of titles as well as to their content. What is also emphasised is the need for discussion and further research on the topic in order to establish consistent guidelines regarding the formulation of clear and precise titles, which would aid journal editors, authors and readers. This paper constitutes an attempt to examine practices of formulating titles in medical case reports in Polish, following the study of F. Salager-Meyer et al. (2013a), in which title length, structure and content were considered as well.
Central auditory processing disorders are defined as deficits in the neural processing of auditory information in the central auditory nervous system with simultaneous normal hearing. Due to the inappropriate reception of speech sounds and difficulties in their understanding and reproduction, pupils may have difficulties in learning language, e.g. in earning and remembering vocabulary and pronouncing words correctly which may cause incorrect communication result or even lack of it. It is also worth mentioning that a great number of parents report difficulties in learning foreign language/languages in their children with central auditory processing disorders, especially English. Additionally, there are few studies discussing the topic of learning and teaching a second language among students with central auditory processing disorders. This paper aims to provide the importance and brief characteristics of central auditory processing disorders, as well as a review of the literature and results of questionnaire (about the foreign language learning difficulties) performed in 16 parents whose children were qualified to the listening training.
In this paper, a new generic development in the medical case report will be presented as a potential tool in a variety of medical contexts. A case report describes new diseases or their novel aspects, and its new interactive type additionally allows readers to comment on published cases and features patients’ first person narratives. This development may be a useful tool in medical English language courses, in medical training as well as in professional development. This way the paper systematises the knowledge on the application of medical case reports in general and re-evaluates their potential in strictly medical contexts
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
