Proponowane ramy teoretyczne odnoszą duchowość (sferę abstrakcyjną, ideacyjną) do konkretnego, codziennego, zindywidualizowanego życia osoby, np. do wyboru celów i środków służących do ich realizacji. Ponadto pozwalają na jej łatwiejszą operacjonalizację w badaniach naukowych. W ramach omówienia krótko została zaprezentowana metoda pomiaru wrażliwości duchowej -Inwentarz Wrażliwości Duchowej (SSI) (Straś-Romanowska, Kowal, Kapała) oraz zasygnalizowano niektóre prawidłowości wykryte w serii badań, dotyczącyce natury zjawiska i jego roli w życiu człowieka, np. znaczenia dla poczucia podmiotowości i subiektywnej jakości życia osoby.
This article outlines the creation of tools to measure spiritual sensitivity -Spiritual Sensitivity Inventory (SSI), starting from the assumptions underlying the source of its creation, through a phase of theoretical analysis of the construct used for development of an experimental method, a quantitative validation of the inventory, ending with a validation of quality, i.e. narrative interviews conducted in order to confirm the theoretical accuracy of the SSI. The authors clarify the construct of spiritual sensitivity, describe a deductive strategy for questionnaire creation, indicate the potential theoretical and methodological problems encountered by psychologists studying spirituality, present a spectrum of validation procedures and their ultimate effect -an accurate and reliable psychometric tool -the Spiritual Sensitivity Inventory. A developed spiritual sensitivity is beneficial not only in relationships between people but also in the educational, professional and social domain. In this light, an accurate and reliable diagnostic tool can be used in a business environment and organization.
My paper presents the results of a research study on the relationship between existential/spiritual resources, that is, spiritual sensitivity (a disposition to experience spirituality, manifested in the embracement of the nature of things in the transcendent and final perspective, in moral sensitivity, and the ability to find meaning in paradoxical and limiting situations), spiritual sensitivity components and subjective quality of life (a generalized attitude to one’s own life mode, in the four existential dimensions: psychophysical, psycho-social, subjective, and metaphysical). Study subjects were older adults (60+, n = 522) living in the current, dynamic, uncertain and fluid modern world conditions. The study had two phases – quantitative and qualitative (narrative interviews). To measure the phenomena, the Spiritual Sensitivity Inventory (Straś-Romanowska, Kowal, & Kapała, 2013) and the Quality of Life Questionnaire (Straś-Romanowska, Oleszkowicz, & Frąckowiak, 2004) were used. The results obtained confirmed a strong mutual relationship between spiritual resources and quality of life, also providing an answer to some questions about the nature of spiritual sensitivity, and its integrating, pro-development and pro-health role in the elderly adults’ life in the post-modern era.
In this article, I will discuss the position of King, Keohane and Verba. Referring directly to the issues of sociology and political science, these authors set the main goal of their considerations to show how to design a research that brings accurate conclusions about social and political life. Many of their comments are applicable to research in other fields of science, including in psychology. Qualitative, and not only quantitative, methods can be very useful in researching the IT environment. Educational organizations can apply the conclusions from studies which connect the qualitative and quantitative methods to assist in the staff development to achieve organizational goals. Also -in process of proper recruitment of leaders in business management or to assist the stuff to raise the performing of professional tasks, even self-development of stuff members should also use the scientific research findings. Hence I consider both quantitative but also qualitative methods worth quoting and analyzing.
