Multiple myeloma (MM) remains the third most common hematological malignancy -its global incidence averages 1.78 cases per 100 000, but in some regions (that is, in norther Europe) is almost twice as high (3.82 / 100 000) [1,2]. Solitary plasmacytoma accounts for less than 5% of plasma cell dyscrasias. Half of plasmacytomas are located within the bones
Strategies for Coping with Stress and the Well-Being of Socially Isolated Seniors during the COVID-19 Pandemic The theory of selective optimization with compensation (SOC), developed by Paul Baltes, and a relational position in the psychological analysis of stress were chosen as the basis for the assumptions of the research study reported on in this article. Additionally, it was assumed that a sense of well-being in seniors may be reduced by crises, which are a response to difficult and unexpected life events. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between selected strategies of coping with stress and the well-being of seniors during the period of forced social isolation that was introduced in the spring of 2020 during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants of this on-line study consisted of 190 late adulthood individuals with a mean age of 68.7 (SD = 5.24). The measurement tools included assessment of the following areas: perceived stress (PSS-10), ways of coping with stress (MINI COPE), the sense of efficacy (GSES) and life satisfaction (SWLS). The results showed that the most common coping methods in the group of seniors studied were active coping, planning, positive revaluation and acceptance. Correlation-regression analysis showed that the level of stress of seniors during a pandemic negatively depends on a sense of efficacy and two ways of coping with stress which include acceptance and active coping, and positively depends on a denial and psychoactive substance use. These results are predominantly consistent with other research studies reported during the pandemic period, which indicate the directions of possible preventive as well as intervention measures for seniors.
Walka o wpływy. Konflikt między rządem Cristiny Fernández de Kirchner a Grupo Clarín w Argentynie Niniejszy artykuł przedstawia konflikt pomiędzy Grupo Clarín, największym konglomeratem medialnym w Argentynie, a rządzącą w Argentynie w latach 2007–2015 prezydentką Cristiną Fernández de Kirchner. W tekście zastosowano metody jakościowe, wykorzystując szereg źródeł pierwotnych i wtórnych. This paper discusses the conflict between Grupo Clarín, the largest media conglomerate in Argentina, and the government of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner (2007–2015). In the course of the dispute, both sides have invoked arguments of free speech and democracy. In fact, the conflict between the Kirchner’s government and Grupo Clarín should be seen in a broader context. The paper formulates a hypothesis that the actual Kirchner – Clarín dispute boiled down to the struggle for maintaining political and business-political influence within the country. The article uses qualitative methods, with multiple primary and secondary sources.
This article systematises procedures for dismissing a Head of State in the countries of South America. We look at the genesis of introducing impeachment to the constitutions of countries in this part of the world, paying close attention to the specific historical background of the Western Hemisphere, then focusing on the categorization and systematisation of the procedure itself. We present three models of the presidential impeachment in South America: Judicial, Bicameral and Unicameral. Using a contextual approach, doctrinal research, comparative method and theory-building strategy, we discuss the general features of these models and the specificities of use in each country of the continent.
