A one-pot, five-component condensation reaction of isocyanide, Meldrum's acid, arylidene malononitrile, and two amine molecules in CH2Cl2 at ambient temperature to give malonamide derivatives is described.
One-Pot Synthesis of 1,2,4,5-Tetrahydro-2,4-dioxobenzo[b][1,4]diazepine and Malonamide Derivatives Using Multi-Component Reactions. -Multicomponent reaction of o-phenylenediamine with arylidene malonitriles, isocyanides, and Meldrum's acid provides diazepines (V) whereas 1,2-diamines with electron-withdrawing substituent as well as p-phenylenediamine give malonamide derivatives. The syntheses can be performed as four-component reactions or as five-component reactions including the in situ formation of arylidene malononitrile substrates. -(RAHMATI*, A.; AHMADI, S.; AHMADI-VARZANEH, M.; Tetrahedron 70 (2014) 50, 9512-9521, http://dx.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
