In head and neck surgery, penetrating neck injuries are uncommon. The neck contains many important structures, so such trauma can cause significant morbidity and mortality. A patient with penetrating neck trauma should be examined promptly in the emergency room. If possible, damaged tissue and organ fragments should be preserved carefully.
ÖZ Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı, lepralı olgularda oluşan nazal lezyonları, lepranın nazal etkilerini ve tomografik bulgula-rını tespit etmektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tedavi altındaki yirmi basil negatif lepra tanılı olgu değerlendirildi. Olguların nazal bulgular açı-sından anamnezleri alındı, nazal muayeneleri yapıldı ve paranazal sinüs tomografileri değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Yirmi lepra tanılı olgunun % 65'i (n=13) lepra-matöz lepra, % 30'u (n=6) borderline lepramatöz lepra, % 5'i (n=1) tüberlükoid lepra idi. Material and Methods: The study included twenty basil negative leprae patients who were under treatment. Medical history regarding nasal findings, physical examination and paranasal tomography findings were noted. Results: Sixty five (n:13) percent of 20 patients had leprama-tous leprae. Thirty (n=6) percent was borderline lepramato-us leprae and 5 % (n=1) was tuberculoid leprae. Sixty five percent of all cases (n:13), seventy seven percent (n=10) of lepramatous leprae and fifty percent (n:3) of borderline lep-ramatous leprae presented with nasal complaints. The most frequent complaint and finding was nasal crusting. Percentage of nasal septal perforation was 35 % (n=7) and saddle nose deformity was found in 10 % (n=2) of patients. Most frequent tomographic finding was mucosal hypertrophy and the ethmoid sinuses were the most affected site.
