Background: Preterm Premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is the rupture of the membranes that encapsulate the amniotic fluid and the fetus before delivery, resulting in the amniotic fluid draining through the vagina. PPROM affects between 20% and 36% of all pregnancies.
