Background: Urinary incontinence is a prevalent and distressing problem worldwide that had a significant effect on quality of life and restricted daily activities. One of the key techniques used to rehabilitate and strengthen pelvic floor muscles and facilitate urine storage is kegel exercises. Aim: to evaluate effect of kegel exercise training program on quality of life among women with urinary incontinence. Setting: The research was conducted at outpatient gynecological clinics in two governmental hospitals in Port Said city. Research design: Quasi-experimental study design was used. Sample: Purposive sample of 403 married women with urinary incontinence who admitted to outpatient gynecological clinics. Tools of data collection: Woman's health assessment sheet and quality of life scale were used to collect the needed data. Results: More than half of the studied women (59%) had a mixed type, about one-quarter (24.6%) had urge type, and just 16.4% had urinary incontinence type of stress. More than one-third of women (37.2%) had a full cure, and more than two-thirds of women (62.8%) had improved after three months of the program. In the post-program phase, there were statistically significant improvements in the overall mean quality of life score compared to the pre-program phase. Conclusion: The kegel exercise training program has a positive impact on improving quality of life and urinary incontinence among women. Recommendations: Apply pelvic muscle exercise guidelines for women with urinary incontinence in all outpatient gynecological clinics.
Background: Workplace bullying is common problem that threatens nursing profession, nurse's health and ability to work safely. Aim: to assess workplace bullying among nurses in primary health care centers in Port Said governorate. Setting: Study was conducted in seven primary health care centers representing districts of Port Said governorate. Sample: composed of 61 staff nurses working at health clinics in the randomly selected primary health care centers. Tools of data collection: Data were obtained through Negative Acts Questionnaire-Revised (NAQ-R). Results: Majority of staff nurses (86.9%) had secondary nursing education and 82% were married. More than half of the studied nurses (54.1%) were victims of workplace bullying, two third of nurses (60.6%) had bullied by patients and patient relatives and more than one third (33.3%) bullied by supervisor and manager. Conclusion: It was concluded from this study, more than half of nurses were victims of workplace bullying. There was no statistical significant relation between workplace bullying and socio-demographic data. Recommendation:Counseling sessions about consequences of workplace bullying should be held on regular base in health care centers.
Background: Globally, aggressive behavior has become a major problem with a variety of multidimensional serious consequences. It causes varying extent of impairment to the social, emotional, and psychological adjustment of adolescents. Aim: This study intended to explore the correlation between aggressive behavior and psychosocial adjustment among Port Said university adolescent students. Subjects and Method: Design: A descriptive correlational research design was employed. Subjects: The study subjects comprised a sample of 509 adolescent students enrolled in the first grade at faculties affiliated to Port Said University in Port Said Governorate during academic year 2019-2020. Tools: Instruments of data collection: Two tools were utilized to collect data, which were Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire, and Psycho-Social Adjustment Scale, in addition to personal characteristics of the studied adolescent students. Results: Four fifths of the studied adolescent students had a high level of aggression. The vast majority the studied students had a mild level of psychosocial adjustment, while the rest of them had a moderate level. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant negative correlation between overall aggression and overall psychosocial adjustment among the studied university adolescent students at p ≤ 0.05. Recommendations: Designing and applying multimedia intervention programs for students regarding training in coping strategies, stress-control techniques, cognitive restructuring and problem-solving techniques, that may help to cope with stressful life events in an adaptive way and without having to use aggression to solve problems or conflicts. Moreover, Faculties should develop student orientation programs, and seminar sessions for the inclusion of formal and informal training on aggressive behavior.
Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and leading cause of death among women. Breast cancer screening plays an important role in early detection and decreasing mortality rate. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate effect of nursing intervention on women knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding breast cancer screening in health care centers in Port Said city. Methods: A Convenience sample of 210 women who attended family planning clinics. This study was carried out in two primary health care centers. Data were collected through using three tools, first, structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, second health belief model scale; third tool was observational checklist for breast self-examination practice. Results: revealed that, there is statically significant improvement of women knowledge, attitudes and practice regarding breast cancer and its screening after the intervention, also there is statistically significant positive correlation between women's knowledge, attitude, practice of breast self-examination and education. Conclusion:.
