This article will understand the role of the village’s head during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sampang regency in 2020. This article utilizes status and role theory by Linton to elaborate role, role facilities, and role-set the village head status as an analytical tool. Then the patron-client theory by Scott is used to understand the village head’s position as the “father” of the villagers. This article uses a qualitative approach and takes a case study of ten villages in Sampang Regency, East Java Province. The data collection technique was carried out through in-depth interviews with ten village heads and secondary data from the internet, namely the Sampang local government’s official website and local news online media. This article discovers that the role of village heads during a pandemic includes: the role of shaping public opinion to be aware of the COVID-19 virus, the role of consolidation through volunteers and information centers (Call Center), and the role of facilitators in the COVID-19 social assistance program. Besides, this article finds that the patron-client relationship between the village head and residents is still strong enough that the village head as the formal leader as well as the informal leader as the village protector during the pandemic.
An effort to educate the people of a nation is a glorious educational goal, where intelligence is not only intellectually but a deeper meaning of intelligence itself. COVID-19 period is a genuinely uplifting meaning of the education itself. RuangGuru, an education-based application, provides solutions for Indonesians with free online schools. The researchers would like to see the shifting of meaning for a community who has used this application during COVID-19. The theory of Social Actions Media Studies was used to see the change in meaning. We also used the reception analysis method by Stuart Hall to classify the interviews' results into three categories, pro, contra, or neutral. The results indicate a shift in meaning due to the interpretation process by RuangGuru community, which is also influenced by local culture, on transition and future education is perceived.
COVID-19 pandemic has been destroying many sectors globally, one of which is education. Where students cannot do activities as they should at school. They must remain at home to avoid the epidemic that runs rampantly. During this crucial time Ruangguru offers an Education revolution which is very helpful, so that, students and teaching staffs can still learn and develop themselves amid the limitations. What is presented by Ruangguru application is in harmony with the ideation theory, which is a new way of thinking or behaving in social interaction or communication. The author found something creative and different in Ruangguru system where communication is varied which can enhance the enthusiasm of students to learn as ideation in social interaction.
The government decided to make temporary policies due to COVID-19 Pandemic. One of the policies is to close schools temporarily and conduct online learning. There are obstacles for people outside Java Island who have inadequate infrastructure concerning online learning, in other words, they are still struggling to apply online learning. Related to the problem in the time of COVID-19 the researchers try to analyze the news which was published by www.solopos.com entitled "Sekolah di Jateng Libur karena Corona, Belajar Pindah ke Ruang Guru?". The researcher uses Fairclough Discourse Analysis method to analyze the news. Besides, www.solopos.com wants to show concerns for its target community due to the government's unfairness. Even though it looks so common, the people of Central Java will easily know what is written not just asking questions, but also trying to convince whether, are they really using RuangGuru to help people around central Java? This research focuses on how we see what is happening in reality. The results, www.solopos.com has their personal importance which can be seen in the selection of vocabularies and their style of how they deliver to their readers, how they selected the attributes of nouns, and many discursive intertextualities which use conjunctions casualties.
This study aims to see how the framing of online news in reporting the polemic of the direct appointment of RuangGuru as a Pre-Work Card partner launched by the government during COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers used qualitative research and Robert N. Entman framing analysis. While the online news which researchers chose as research objects were Kompas.com and Detik.com for comparison. The results show that there are different points of view between the two media in viewing the case. Kompas.com tends to protect and support RuangGuru and the government, while Detik.com, on the other hand, seems to be in opposition to attacking RuangGuru and the government, indirectly.
