This study investigates the impact of integrating essential factors on academic performance in university students' context. The proposed model examines the influence of continuance intention, satisfaction, information value, and Internet addiction on academic performance. Additionally, it investigates the mediating role of continuance intention on the relationship of satisfaction and information value on academic performance among university students. A survey questionnaire method was adopted to collect data from university students in Jordan. Data was collected from 476 voluntary participants, and the analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS. The analysis results show that continuance intention, satisfaction, information value have a significant positive influence on academic performance. Besides, the results show that satisfaction and information value positively and significantly influence continuance intention. While continuance intention full mediation the relationship between satisfaction and academic performance, it partial mediation the relationship between information value and academic performance. This study is the first to examine the integrating of continuance intention, satisfaction, information value, and Internet addiction on students' academic performance. Furthermore, this study is also distinguished from other studies by investigating the mediating role of continuance intention gap.
PurposeThis empirical research draws on the existing theory of transformational leadership, adaptive culture and organizational resilience, and investigates the effect of the elected TQM leadership style “transformational leadership” through the mediating effect of adaptive culture on organizational resilience, that is the key of survival during crises like the recent COVID-19 pandemic, which has severely impacted the business globally.Design/methodology/approachThis study exploited a cross-sectional online questionnaire of a random sample of Dubai service firms, with the unit of analysis being at the firm level. In total, 379 usable responses were received. Regression analysis was conducted to test hypotheses.FindingsThe overall findings of this study supported that transformational leadership is positively associated with both adaptive culture and firm's resilience and significantly impacts them. Adaptive culture was found partially mediating the effect of transformational leadership on organizational resilience.Practical implicationsThe research findings provide important insights to practitioners (managers and leaders) to better improve their transformational qualities, as these qualities are expected to improve the organizational adaptive cultures and capacity of resilience.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors' knowledge, this is one of the first studies to examine the transformational leadership effect on organizational adaptive culture and firm's resilience. This investigation expands the boundaries of leadership style theory into new arenas, attempting to partially address the identified knowledge gap in this vein.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of perceived security, perceived privacy, and satisfaction on Facebook user continuance intention. In addition, the serial multiple mediating effects of trust and satisfaction on the relationship between continuance intention and Facebook determinants are explored. This study also investigates the moderating role of Facebook addiction on the relationship between satisfaction and continuance intention. Design/methodology/approach To achieve the study aims, an online survey was conducted among university undergraduate students. Data were collected from 450 voluntary participants. The statistical analysis was performed using SPSS and PROCESS macro models. Findings The study results confirm that perceived privacy and satisfaction have significant impacts on Facebook continuance intention. The path analysis results confirm the full mediating roles of trust and satisfaction in the relationship between perceived security and continuance intention. Furthermore, the moderating role of Facebook addiction on the relationship between satisfaction and continuance intention is confirmed. Practical implications The results of this study offer insights to Facebook managers and policymakers regarding the treatment of and intervention in Facebook continuance intention. The results disclose the critical role of users' satisfaction and perceived privacy in influencing Facebook users' continuance intention for Facebook managers and policymakers. This confirms that Facebook managers and policymakers must maintain user privacy to increase the level of user satisfaction and continuance intention. Furthermore, they must ensure that the requisite security mechanisms are in place to increase user trust and satisfaction that influence users’ continuance intention. Originality/value This research integrated perceived privacy, perceived security, and trust with an Information System (IS) success model. This is the first study to investigate the serial mediating effects of trust and satisfaction on the determinants of Facebook continuance intention. The moderating effects of Facebook addiction on the relationship between satisfaction and continuance intention are also examined. The study results make important contributions to Facebook continuance intention research and advance scholarship into aspects of undergraduate students’ continuance intention in the context of Facebook.
PurposeThis paper aims to investigate the differences between the certified and non-certified ISO 9001 construction companies in terms of construction projects' performance in Jordan.Design/methodology/approachQuestionnaires were distributed to certified and non-certified construction organizations. These entities consist of contractor's consultants and owner representative organizations. In total, 86 valid responses were returned. Data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) using descriptive statistic tests, namely, multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and analysis of variance (ANOVA).FindingsThe results clearly showed the positive effects of ISO 9001 certification on construction projects' performance in project management performance and project success. ISO-certified organizations have higher mean score in project management leadership, staff, policies, project life cycle and key performance indicators (KPIs) but not in partnership. Moreover, an ISO-certified organization shows higher project success.Originality/valueDue to the dearth of research conducted in this area, this research highlights the management procedures, which impact the leading entities' performance in the construction field within Jordan.
The current research aimed to investigate the relationship between human resource management (HRM) practices, total quality management (TQM) practices and competitive advantages in Telecommunication organizations in Jordan. A self-administrated questionnaire was designed and distributed over a sample of telecommunication employees of 400 employees. The percentage of filled questionnaires is 80% (320 questionnaires). The research hypotheses were tested by using multiple regressions. The study concluded that there is a relationship between human resource management practices and total quality management practices. It was also concluded that there is a relationship between total quality management practices and competitive advantage. Finally, there is a relationship between human resource management practices and competitive advantage. A number of recommendations emerged in light of the findings, is that the telecommunication organization are advised to focus more on the human resource management activities and total quality management activities that improve the utilization of competitive advantages.
