The latest ‘freedom to learn’ policy, issued by the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, must be implemented by educational institutions at various levels. The principals played significant roles such as community empowerment to utilize all resources in the schools to support the policy. The research aimed to describe the principals’ efforts in improving community participation in the school and to describe the social involvement in facilitating the freedom to learn at schools. This study employed a qualitative approach with a multi-case research design, and it was conducted in Indonesia, particularly in Tana Tidung Regency in North Kalimantan, Bondowoso Regency in East Java, and Malang City in East Java. The data collection techniques included in-depth interviews and document studies, and to validate the data used a credibility technique. The data validation through the credibility technique was carried out by conducting triangulation, checking members, and improving the persistence and adequacy of reference materials. The cross-case data analysis in this study applied a constant comparative method. The analysis was conducted in all three cases resulted in the provisional findings, continued by data comparison that would later be found by the three cases. The results of this research were the principals’ efforts in enhancing community participation through cooperation with several related parties. The principals were regarded as role models in supporting the ‘freedom to learn’ policy and building cooperation with related partners. The kind of community participation varied based on the uniqueness of each region.
The purpose of this research is to find out, (1) the level of visionary role of the principal's visionary leadership, namely the reconstruction of policies, direction determinants, change agents, spokespersons, and trainers as well as the teacher's readiness variable to meet the industrial revolution 4.0, (2) the relationship between the role of the principal's leadership in reconstructing the policy towards teacher readiness, (3) the relationship between the variables determining the direction of the teacher's readiness, (4) the relationship of the agent of change variables to the teacher's readiness, (5) the relationship of the speaker variable to the teacher's readiness, ( 6) the relationship of the coach's variable to the teacher's readiness, ( 7) the relationship between the principal's leadership role in reconstructing policies, directors, change agents, spokespersons, and trainers simultaneously with teacher readiness. This study uses a quantitative approach in the effective SDN Malang. Data collection techniques with a closed questionnaire, using central tendency analysis and path analysis.
Abstract:This research aimed to identify the role of community in improving educational quality terms of giving advice, support, controlling, and mediator. The location of research is at elementary schools of Batu City. The sampling was done proportionally from 20 schools by using grouping technique. Questionnaires were used to collect the data. Descriptive analysis technique was utilized to analyze the data. The results of the research show that the level of school committee role in term of giving advice is categorized as high and has a significant relation to the improvement of educational quality, giving supportive advice is categorized as low and has a significant relation to the improvement of educational quality, giving controlling advice is categorized as high and has a significant relation to the improvement of educational quality, and as a mediator is categorized as low and has a significant relation with the improvement of educational quality.
This study aims to describe the role of principal leadership in decision making, the process of decision-making by the principal, as well as factors that support the role of principal leadership in decision making. This research uses qualitative approach. Sources of data used in this study are principals, teachers and personnel kependidiikan. Data analysis used in this research through data reduction, data display, and data verification. The results of this research are (a) role of principals in role of decision process that is role of regulatife, democratic, and persuasive; (b) the decision-making process conducted by the principal of the workshop, identifying problems, alternative problem solving, determining the alternatives chosen and decision making; (c) factors that support the principal's leadership in decisionmaking ie all parties are open to the problems facing the school and provide freedom of opinion in decision-making.
This study aims to, (1) find out the implementation of computer-based management information system (MIS) in faculties of State University of Malang (UM); (2) to know the effectiveness of the civil servant's performance in faculties of State University of Malang; and (3) to know the correlation of implementation of computer-based management system and the effectiveness of civil servant's performance in faculties of State University of Malang. This research uses quantitative approach with descriptive correlational research design. The instrument of this research is a questionnaire with civil servant respondents in faculties of State University of Malang. The analysis technique used in this research is descriptive analysis and correlation. The results of this study indicate: (1) the level of implementation of computer-based management information system consisting of hardware, software, database, procedure, telecommunication network and brainware in faculties of State University of Malang is good; (2) the level of effectiveness of civil servant's performance consisting of work quantity, work quality, and working time utilization in faculties of State University of Malang are high; and (3) there is a significant positive correlation between the implementation of computer-based management information system and the effectiveness of civil servant's performance in faculties of State University of Malang.
