This study aims to explore the satisfaction and utilization of old age allowance among the Dalit Community in Pokhara, Nepal. For this purpose, Pokhara was purposively selected at first. Out of 553 Dalit respondents from randomly selected wards (13, 16, 26 and 29) of Pokhara Metropolitan City of Nepal who were getting old age allowance, information was collected purposively from 131 respondents using structured questionnaire through interview techniques. Hence, a multistage sampling technique was applied during the sample collection. Both descriptive as well as exploratory research design was used for the study. The majority of elderly Dalit are illiterate, unemployed and living jointly with their family. For most of the respondents, allowance is the major source of personal income. Most of them spend allowance for their own expenses. The majority of respondents are satisfied with the present allowance but still, there is the demand for increasing the allowances as it is so insufficient for their basic needs. On the basis of priority, most of the respondents spend their money on food for household consumption, health and medicines, transportation expenses, alms, clothes for self and tobacco, alcohol accordingly. Most of them have not faced difficulties in getting allowances. However, some of them have faced difficulties to travel to authorized office or bank to collect allowance due to their age, are not receiving allowance timely, late receiving allowance due to age error in documents, do not get paid the full amount and they feel a lot of administrative hassles. Hence the government should give attention to the problem faced by the respondents while receiving the old age allowance.
Job satisfaction of employees is considered as important factor for the growth and success of any organization. However, many organizations have made minimal effort to assess the job satisfaction of employees including banks. This study aims to measure the job satisfaction of female employees and the major factors affecting it in commercial banks of Pokhara valley, Nepal. The study follows descriptive and explanatory designs. Purposive sampling technique was used in this research. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire administered to 150 female professionals working in different commercial banks of Pokhara valley. Descriptive statistics such as frequency analysis and mean score analysis, and inferential statistics such as correlation analysis and regression analysis were employed in this study. This study found that all the independent variables including promotion, supervisor behaviour, remuneration, working conditions and co-worker behaviour positively correlated with job satisfaction. Likewise, the study found that promotion, remuneration, and working condition have a significant impact on job satisfaction.
The main aim of this paper is to explore gender inequality in decision making role among Dalit community getting Old Age Allowance (OAA) in Pokhara. For this purpose, out of 553 Dalit respondents who were getting OAA, 131 respondents have been proportionately distributed in randomly selected four wards (13, 16, 26 and 29) of Pokhara. Information was collected from these respondents using structured questionnaire. A multistage sampling technique was applied during the sample collection. Chi-squared test was applied to find the association of different decision making role of the respondents with gender. The indicators of the decision making role of the respondents taken in this study are ‘The voice is heard more and given more importance’, ‘Advice is sought on important affairs’ and ‘Actively involved in the decision making’. The information of these indicators of decision making role of the respondents was collected before and after getting OAA among friends, in family and in society. It is found that the proportion of male is higher than the female in all the indicators of decision making role of the respondents before and after getting OAA. However, the percentage of the male and female was increased after getting OAA. Further, the decision making indicators like actively involved in the decision making in Society’ before and after getting OAA, actively involved in the decision making among friends after getting OAA, and advice is sought on important affairs in society after getting OAA have significant association with gender.
The research aims to assess the impact of social security allowance on socio-economic status of the recipients and differences in socio-economic status of the recipients. Multistage sampling technique has been used for the selection of samples. The data has been collected through self-structured questionnaires from 170 respondents who have been receiving social security allowance provided by the Government of Nepal. Thus, descriptive as well as cross-sectional research design has been used for this study. The study found that social security benefits play very important role in improving socio-economic status of the beneficiaries by enhancing the economic well-being, health access, social status, self-respect and respect from others, and living standard of the recipients. The study also found that there is a significant difference in socio-economic well-being of recipients by area of residence, employment status, duration of getting allowance, and allowance as major source of income.
Customer satisfaction is very important for the success of the business. This study measured the client satisfaction with broker services in Pokhara valley. Convenience sampling technique is used for selection of sample and 385 respondents who were trading stock in secondary market were taken as sample. Different twelve items were used to measure the clients’ satisfaction. Means score, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were used for data analysis. The study found majority of the clients are satisfied with the stock brokers’ services in Pokhara valley. Further, responsiveness and trustworthiness were found as the major factors related to clients' satisfaction with stockbroker services. This study concluded that stockbrokers should be more responsive to the clients and their services should be trustworthy to increase the client's satisfaction.
