Indonesia is known for its people who are rich in local wisdom and culture. Indonesian people have a lifestyle that likes to take advantage of plants. One type of plant that is widely used is betel-betel from the family Piperaceae. The purpose of this study is to examine the ethnobotany Piperaceae along with its morphology so that it can be used as information for the general public, especially the younger generation who are still confused about the different types of betel. This research was conducted in several stages, namely literature study, field observations, interviews, and data analysis. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Based on field observations, there are six types of betel vines that are known and utilized by the Kalijambe village community, namely P. betle, P. crocatum, P. nigrum, P. cubeba, P. sp., and P. retrofractum. The conclusion of this research is that there are six types of betel (Piperaceae) used by Kalijambe village community. Utilization of Piperaceae in the form of traditional medicines, food, economic value, ritual plants, and ornamental plants.
Dragonfly or odonata is one of the biodiversity in Indonesia. Dragonfly act as bioindicator of aquatic ecosystem and predator for mosquitoes. Dragonfly habitat is usually in a watery place such as a river. This study purpose to identify and characteristic dragonflies in the Rusunawa field. The type of research used is qualitative descriptive research, which aims to determine the morphology of dragonflies with Orthetrum sabina type and to know the environmental factors that affect dragonfly breeding. The method used in this study is roaming, by searching for dragonflies in the Rusunawa field Jerakah. The dragonfly population found in the Jerakah field is mostly one of which is Orthetrum sabina which has a dark green thoracic characteristic with black lines on the lateral side and black legs. The abdomen is slim in black and white, the embellant is white and has transparent wings. The number of dragonflies is influenced by several factors, namely temperature, climate, air humidity, water ph and insecticide use.
Lerak (Sapindus rarak DC) has many benefits, including washing soap, vegetable pesticides, foaming agents for toothpaste, essential ingredients for soap gels, and antibacterial agents. Along with the many uses, it must be balanced with conservation activities to maintain the sustainability of lerak resources. This study aims to determine the usefulness of lerak (Sapindus rarak DC) and generative conservation efforts of lerak in the Jatimas community, Mijen, Semarang. This community service-based research was conducted in January-February 2021 in Jatimas, Mijen, Semarang. The research method uses the ethnobotany approach, conservation, and literature study, which is equipped with interviews and direct observations. The results show that the community uses lerak as herbal soap, jewelry washing agent, and insecticide. Through this community service program, the community has carried out generative conservation of lerak through seeds.
Masyarakat Bogor, Jawa Barat adalah sekelompok masyarakat yang masih menerapkan pola kehidupan tradisional. Penggunaan tanaman kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) dan temu lawak (Curcuma zanthorrhiza Roxb.) oleh masyarakat setempat masih berlangsung sampai saat ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui nilai ekonomi kunyit dan temulawak bagi masyarakat Bogor, pemanfaatan dan cara penggunaan tanaman kunyit dan temu lawak, serta peran etnobotani bagi perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa studi literatur, observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kunyit dan temu lawak memiliki potensi ekonomi bagi masyarakat Bogor, Jawa Barat. Pemanfaatannya antara lain sebagai tanaman obat, bahan tambahan pangan dan sebagai lalapan. Cara penggunaannya yaitu dengan dihaluskan, dipotong dan dikonsumsi secara langsung. Revitalisasi pengetahuan masyarakat tentang pemanfaatan tanaman yang ada di sekitar sangat penting dilakukan untuk pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan.
