Pilonidal disease is a very common anorectal problem that most often arises in the hair follicles of the natal cleft of the sacrococcygeal area. Successful management depends on adherence to well-described surgical principles based on knowledge of pathogenesis and the patient's presentation. Considerable morbidity from prolonged wound Care can be avoided in these typically healthy patients when their disease is cured at initial presentation.
Bezoars are persistent ingested concretions of human or vegetable fibers or concretions of foreign material that accumulate in the gastrointestinal tract mainly the stomach. Long term prognosis is good with proper psychological counselling and long term follow up. Fluoxetine or other SSRI'S have shown good results in treatment of trichotillomania. Parental counselling and education is important part of treatment.
Diaphragmatic rupture is a rare diagnosis and goes undiagnosed unless some complications occur. We report on cases that developed diaphragmatic hernia following complete/partial tear of diaphragm due to trauma to the abdomen.
SVC obstruction is attributed to intraluminal and extraluminal causes. A 55 year lady, known diabetic was diagnosed with carcinoma left breast. The preoperative PET scan showed FDG avid index lesion with enlarged axillary nodes but none in neck or thorax. In this case, carcinoma breast-associated hyper coaguable state and infection may have promoted thrombus formation rather than the CVAD.
Angiosarcoma is an aggressive malignant tumor of vascular origin. We present a case of secondary angiosarcoma in a 66 year old female patient, who presented with a history of left breast wide local excision with intraoperative brachytherapy. The only chance of curative treatment for secondary angiosarcoma is extensive surgery, preferably with resection of all irradiated tissue.
