Three series of biodegradable unsaturated polyesters containing hydroxybenzoic acid with different ratios and maleic anhydride as a site of unsaturation were synthesized in the presence of several aliphatic acids. Their chemical structures were confirmed via IR and 13 CNMR spectroscopy. Curing exotherms of the unsaturated polyesters with styrene so prepared were determined at several temperatures. Effects of hydroxybenzoic acid content and the percentage of maleic anhydride on the synthesis, structure, curing and mechanical properties and hydrolytic degradation are reported.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
