Three series of azo dyes derived from 2-amino-5-aryl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles and aniline, N,N-dimethylaniline and phenol were synthesized in high yields by a conventional diazotization-coupling sequence. The chemical structures of the prepared compounds were confirmed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and elemental analysis. In addition, the X-ray single crystal structure of a representative azo dye was presented. For explicit determination of the influence of a substituent on radiation absorption in UV-Vis range, time-dependent density functional theory calculations were performed.
The structurally diverse coordination compounds of zinc were designed and synthesized using two types of building blocks: short‐chain carboxylate ions and hexamethylenetetraamine. They were characterized by X‐ray crystallography, infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The studied compounds were used as precursors for production (via controlled thermal conversion) of zinc oxide nanoparticles. The conversion process was optimized in terms of two parameters (heating rate and maximum temperature). Such an approach, combined with proper design of the precursor structure, allows fabrication of various zinc oxide micro‐ and nanoparticles. The influence of a precursor structure and modifications of conversion parameters on size and morphology of ZnO particles were studied and discussed.
Four new ligands and four new copper (II) coordination compounds were prepared and characterized by chemical, elemental analysis, cytotoxicity, and FTIR spectroscopy (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy). The nature of metal–ligand coordination was investigated. The thermal properties of complexes in the solid state were studied using TG-MS techniques (thermogravimetric analysis coupled with mass spectrometry) under dynamic flowing air atmosphere to analyze the principal volatile thermal decomposition and fragmentation products that evolved during thermolysis. The intermediate and final solid thermolysis products were also determined. The MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazoliumbromide) assay was used to evaluate active metabolic cells as an IC50 (half maximal inhibitory concentration). The relationship between antitumor activity and the position of nitrogen atoms in the organic ligand has been shown.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
