Background & Aim: The practice of family-centered nursing care brings positive benefits to health care. This article aims to describe the perception and usability of a game to promote knowledge about family assessment and intervention. Methods & Materials: A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted involving 102 nurses and nursing degree students in the second half of 2021. The evaluation was performed using the game usability instrument (System Usability Scale, SUS), the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory, and open questions about the game's advantages and disadvantages. Results: The average score obtained by applying the SUS was high, with a mean of 81.37. In addition, high mean values were observed in all dimensions of the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory. Concerning the game’s advantages and disadvantages, 198 codes were grouped into seven categories and 30 subcategories, highlighting more advantages than disadvantages. Conclusion: Overall, participants evaluated the game positively. Our findings suggest that using "Game2FamilyNursing" could be helpful and contribute as an educational tool in family nursing training.
DESCRITORES ABSTRACTThe objective of this study is to identify which is the best nursing intervention strategy to promote treatment management in patients with Obstructive Chronic Pulmonary Disease in the hospital setting. An integrative literature review was performed for the years 2006 to 2009. The data analysis revealed that the studies used different elements and specific effectiveness indicators to evaluate the intervention strategies that were addressed. Based on current evidence, it is not possible to identify the best strategy. The present review points out the need to define more consensual outcome indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of intervention strategies. Hence, it is necessary to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing intervention strategies, turning to those indicators, to define the best evidenced-based intervention strategy. Background Each year, more than a billion people suffer from respiratory diseases leading to about 4 million deaths worldwide. Airway Clearance impairment is deeply related to these diseases causing a significant impact on self-care and quality of life. Therefore, it is essential to identify clinical data, nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions, providing a solid basis for clinical reasoning and integrating the best scientific evidence to enhance nursing care. This scoping review aims to map the existing evidence on clinical data, nursing diagnoses and nursing interventions addressing nursing focus “Airway Clearance”. Methods A scoping review was performed according to Joanna Briggs Institute framework. We searched MEDLINE, CINAHL Complete, Scopus, Web of Science, and PEDro databases for published English, Portuguese, and Spanish literature between 1975 and 2021. It included all studies on airway clearance in adult patients in all contexts of nursing care. Quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies, as well as systematic reviews, were included. The PRISMA-ScR checklist was used. Results In total 1355 studies were identified. After removing duplicates, 104 matched the inclusion criteria and were included in the review. The findings of this review showed two areas of nursing attention: one related to signs and symptoms management and the other related to health/illness transition. The data that lead to nursing diagnoses can be divided into cognitive and clinical data. The nursing diagnoses were mostly related to secretions retention, excessive mucus production and airway obstruction. The most commonly identified nursing interventions were the educational interventions assembled into pre-design education programs rather than patient-tailored programs. Conclusions The findings of this review can add substantial value for systematising the nursing process related to nursing focus “Airway Clearance”. Reaching a consensus seems highly relevant, as it could improve nursing decision-making, nursing care quality and produce more reliable nursing outcomes.
