Typifications and new combinations are provided for Boraginaceae s.l. from Brazil in advance of the List of Species of the Brazilian Flora. Varronia leucomalla (Taub.) Borhidi is lectotypified, and is presented Varronia mayoi (Taroda) M. Stapf is presented as a new combination. Additionally, the identity of Varronia glandulosa (Fresen.) Borhidi and Varronia striata (Fresen.) Borhidi is discussed, and the names for these species are reestablished. Key words: Cordia, typification, new combination.
ResumenTipificaciones y nuevas combinaciones son provistas para Boraginaceae s.l. de Brasil como un avance de la lista para el Catálogo de la Flora del Brasil. Varronia leucomalla (Taub.) Borhidi es lectotipificada y la nueva combinación Varronia mayoi (Taroda) M. Stapf es presentada. Adicionalmente, la identidad de Varronia glandulosa (Fresen.) Borhidi y Varronia striata (Fresen.) Borhidi son discutidas y reestablecidos los nombres como válidos para estas especies.

AbstractThis work consists of a floristic survey of Boraginaceae in APA Serra Branca/Raso da Catarina, located in Jeremoabo, Bahia, Brazil. We analyzed specimens collected between August 2009 and June 2011 and collections deposited in the ALCB, HRB and HUEFS herbaria. Four genera and ten species of Boraginaceae were found: Cordia rufescens A.DC., C. trichotoma (Vell.) Arráb. ex Steud., C. glabrata (Mart.) A.DC., Heliotropium angiospermum Murray, H. elongatum (Lehm.) I.M.Johnst., Tournefortia rubicunda Salzm. ex DC., T. salzmannii DC., Varronia curassavica Jacq., V. globosa Jacq. e V. leucocephala (Moric.) J.S.Mill. Keys for identification of genera and species, descriptions, illustrations and comments about geographic distribution and phenology of the species are presented. . A new species from Brazil, Cordia pilosa M. Stapf & Taroda (Cordiaceae), is described from northeastern Brazil. Illustrations and data on habitat, distribution, and phenology are provided. The new species belongs to Cordia sect. Superbiflorae Taroda, and it is distinguished from similar species in section Superbiflorae by its compact inflorescences and the pilose indument on the twigs, leaves, and inflorescence axes.RESUMEN . Se describe e ilustra una nueva especie para el noreste de Brasil: Cordia pilosa M. Stapf & Taroda (Cordiaceae). También se presentan datos sobre su hábitat, distribución y fenología. Esta nueva especie pertenece a Cordia sect. Superbiflorae Taroda, y se distingue de las especies similares de la sección Superbiflorae por sus inflorescencias compactas y sus ramas jóvenes, hojas y ejes de las inflorescencias con indumento piloso.
